Chris Rowsom

A lifelong sailor, Captain Christopher Rowsom grew up on the eastern end of Long Island surrounded by water.  After attending Hobart College, he embarked upon an adventure sailing to the Caribbean on board a passenger schooner which resulted in a career in traditional sail.  His travels at sea have taken him to all three coasts of the US, the Great Lakes, transatlantic to northern Europe, and the Caribbean Sea.  Captain Rowsom has sailed on many traditional vessels of note including a four year association with the original Pride of Baltimore.  In 1986, Captain Rowsom joined the crew that built the schooner Lady Maryland for the Living Classrooms Foundation.  He subsequently became the vessel’s skipper and Fleet Captain for LCF.    In 1999, Captain Rowsom came ashore and accepted the position that he currently holds as Executive Director of the USS Constellation Museum supervising the vessel’s interpretive, preservation, and restoration programs.    Captain Rowsom is a board member and past chairman of Tall Ships America, is a vice-chair of the Greater Baltimore History Alliance, and is a member of the board of the Baltimore City Heritage Area Authority.
